rustic salt/spice jar & spoon
Wheel thrown salt jar, made from off-white speckled stoneware clay with applied textured horizontal lines. Finished with off-white (interior) & matte rustic blue (exterior)glaze finish.
This piece comes complete with it's own little matching spoon which fits in a loop on the side of the jar when not in use. The lid is made of cork & fits snugly inside to keep the contents dry.
Perfect for dried herbs, spices, salt, pepper, sugar or even loose tea & great for a smaller kitchen where space is limited or on the table for serving salt, sugar or other dry condiments.
Item arrived very quickly, packaged securely. Such a cute, unique and useful container which we're using as a salt jar. Love the cork top and the spoon.

About the Artist.
Marie Wingate started out her ceramics career as the teenage apprentice of Krystyna Young, a well known potter from the Isle of Wight, UK.
Haseley Manor Pottery was a small village pottery with a handful of local artists & potters producing hand thrown/decorated traditional English slipware, selling to mostly locals & tourists.
After the studio closed down she studied Psychology & worked for a long period in Occupational Therapy using her pottery classes as a therapeutic activity for adults with mental health challenges.
At this time she also began assisting the yoga teacher at the same facility, which was the beginning of the journey of becoming a lifelong practitioner of yoga.
After becoming a full-time mother & returning to work she took up a position in education as the 'Art & Ceramics technician' at a prestigious liberal arts school in the UK. Here she worked closely with students & teachers in this busy art department. She was an active member of the school & exhibited her large ceramic pieces before emigrating to the USA.
After seeking out the Art scene of West Palm Beach (Her new home town) she found & became a member of the Armory Art Center.
Here she used the studio facilities to develop & create her new work, exhibiting in their galleries & exhibitions.
She is a regular of local art shows, farmers markets, gourmet food events & yoga events.
In 2012 she established her home ceramics studio & opened her Etsy store, with just a few items.
Since then it has grown steadily & is now branching into wholesale as well as retail.
Marie believes in professionalism & integrity, offering good customer service is a priority as is reflected in her 5* customer reviews.
She works alone & strives to create beautiful, high quality ceramic items as well as offering a friendly, reliable service to her customers.
Marie's work with clay spans a total of 33 years & she is passionate about ceramics, both as an artist & art lover!
She takes most of her inspiration from 'mother nature' & loves herbs, plants, animals & the ocean.
Marie Wingate is British born & has a special interest in teapots! She likes to hand-build oversized whimsical pieces using a variety of techniques to create one of a kind, unique functioning teapots for collectors & for gallery exhibiting. Here are a few examples of her work.
